The Journey
Just over a year ago Jacki Berry came to us here at Verdigris Studio & The Landing Gallery with and invitation we couldn't refuse, After a solo exhibition of her own Art at the Landing Gallery where Jacki donated all proceeds from sales to The Mental Health Foundation she asked us to join her on another journey, this time a different sort of exhibition, one where we invite local artists to donate a piece of art which would be auctioned and all proceeds going in support of Mental Health with The Taranaki Retreat the perfect recipient.
Jacki understands the healing power of art and creativity on our health and wellbeing and incorporated the Headboard Challenge into the exhibition. This is where you can take a second hand head board (single preferably) and make it sellable, giftable and Art able.
Why a head board you say - think about your own head and where ! what ! and why issues go on inside that brain we have. Connecting the dots, the wires, and the thoughts can all seem just too much in our minds. "
The Headboard Challenge was intended to be a healing journey for anyone keen to take it on.
Life through Covid19 has bought different challenges in many ways and the uncertainty of whether it would be even possible to hold the Exhibition and Auction in the gallery we decided to go online. We would hang everything in the gallery then load it all on to an online auction platform and go live on 9th October. How exciting is that, scary but exciting.

The Landing Gallery upstairs at Verdigris Studio 304 Broadway Stratford is a unique gallery and exhibition space for all Taranaki artists and artisans. It is free to exhibit with no commission or hanging fee. Peter and Sue Hogan are passionate about giving Taranaki all artists the chance to show and sell their work.
